Programmers are those people and organisations that are responsible for hosting and arranging live performances.
Programmers include roles such as:
- venue programmers - responsible for programming one or more venues
- festivals - those who programme single or multi-site festivals
- independent promoters - those who make arrangements between venues and performers to make events happen.
Programmers vs. Venues
Many Programmers may or may not also manage venues, however, for the purposes of Tourbook your Programming activities are kept separated from the technical and practical set up of the Venues you work with. For example, in many cases, Venues may be managed by one programmer, but also used by others on an occasional basis.
Programmer Profiles focus on the people or team that is responsible for programming work - i.e. their artistic policies, what support they can provide, the kind of deals they operate and any policies that might be relevant to touring performers.
Venue Pages on the other hand, simply outline the technical and practical setup of a performance space or spaces that are offered by the programmer. For this reason, it is important that you create a Programmer profile before creating a Venue Page.
